All those white Eastern Europeans during the cold war, sneaking across the iron curtain to freedom in the west? Heroes. Risking everything so that their children might be raised in a free world. All those brown Latinos sneaking across the US/Mexico border for pretty much the same reason? The scum of the earth, a peril to America's very existence. This is one of those contradictions that show how racist the motivations behind most of the anti-immigration movement are.
